Basically, this dude’s existence must consist of living in a life-sustaining bubble, absorbing various media around the clock and then spitting out his opinion through the Internet. Scaruffi single-handedly puts the entire Cadenza staff combined to shame with his encyclopedic knowledge of music, boasting equal authority on ’70s Krautrock and ’90s slo-core. The most interesting page, though, is his sprawling musical history, with links to his 550-page “History of Rock Music” (also available for sale on ). Scaruffi, an Italian, offers in-depth, often shakily translated insights on science, cinema, politics, software, art and about eight other topics. ( Piero Scaruffi, a self-described poet, historian and free thinker, has an online archive that the average person could only compile in three lifetimes.
